In June 2018, seventeen women spread across the globe got together via telephone and resolved to raise capital to invest in Africa and other emerging markets. In December 2018, we converged in Nairobi, Kenya and launched fund AWI 1.0. The fund is currently invested in different sectors of the East African economy. Our investors have also grown to more than fifty spread across the US, Europe, Canada, and a number of African countries. As we seek to launch fund AWI 2.0 in Nairobi where our story began in December 2025, we will be focusing on increasing our membership and diversifying our investments in Africa and beyond with the single mission of engineering transformative economic and social change.
AWIVEST is also dedicated to social progress. We champion educational initiatives, mentorship, and networking through annual conferences and wealth and investment summits to ensure women have the knowledge and support to thrive as investors and leaders. Our goal is to drive sustainable change, shaping a more prosperous, equitable future for African communities.
